GIORGOS FRAGOS



Pianist Giorgos Fragos was born in 1984 in Athens, Greece. He studied with Claudio Martinez Mehner and then in Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia with Ralf Gothóni and Eldar Nebolsin. He finished his studies in Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. Important mentors for him have been also pianists Ferenc Rados and Maria João Pires. In addition to Music, Fragos has studied Mathematics at the National Technical University of Athens.

Giorgos Fragos was awarded with the “Rising Pianist Prize” of the Athens Academy in 2012. Fragos is a winner of Montserrat Alavedra Competition in Barcelona 2010. He won second prize in Primer Palau competition in Barcelona 2010, which was followed by a concert tour by Juventudes Musicales organisation. He was also a finalist of the Fidelio Competition in Vienna in 2012.

Giorgos has held a Fellowship from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Giorgos Fragos made his soloist debut with Orquesta Sinfónica de Valencia. He has performed as a soloist also with the Santander Festival Orchestra the Piano Concerto of György Ligeti. He has been invited repeatedly to perfom with Spain's foremost contemporary music ensemble, Plural Ensemble in various venues around Spain.

As a chamber musician Fragos has performed all over Europe, these performances include for example the world famous concert houses like Musikverein Wien, Palau de la Musica Catalana with renowned musicians such as Mate Bekavac and Jasmine Choi.

Giorgos Fragos gave his first master classes last May in Eton College near London.


Der Pianist Giorgos Fragos ist 1984 in Athen, Griechenland geboren. Er studierte am Hellenischen Konservatorium, am Concervatorio Superior de Salamanca mit Claudio Martinez Mehner, am Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid mit Ralf Gothóni und Eldar Nebolsin und am Konservatorium Wien, wo er er seine Master-Prüfung absolvierte. Daneben waren Ferenc Rados und Maria João Pires wichtige Mentoren für ihn. Abseits der Musik studierte Giorgos Fragos Mathematik an der Technischen Universität Athen.

Giorgos Fragos wurde mit dem Preis des “Jungen Aufstrebenden Pianisten” der Akademie von Athen ausgezeichnet. Er ist ein Gewinner des Montserrat Alavedra Wettbewerbs in Barcelona 2010. Er gewann den 2. Preis in Primer Palau Wettbewerbs in Barcelona 2010, dem eine Serie von Konzertenreisen in Spanien folgte, und er ist Finalist des Fidelio-Wettbewerbs 2012 in Wien.

Giorgos ist ein Stipendiat der “Guildhall School of Music and Drama” in London gewesen.

Er machte sein solistisches Debüt mit dem Orquesta Sinfónica de Valencia. Er spielte als Solist das Klavierkonzert von Ligeti mit dem Santander Festival Orchestra. Er wurde wiederholt eingeladen, mit Spaniens bedeutendstem zeitgenössischem Musikensemble "Plural Ensemble" in verschiedenen Sälen um Spanien zu spielen.

Als Kammermusiker trat Giorgos europaweit auf, darunter im Wiener Musikverein, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Palau de la Musica Catalana usw. mit renommiertren Musikern wie zB. Mate Bekavac und Jasmine Choi.

Giorgos Fragos hielt seinen ersten Meisterkurs an dem Eton College in London.
